Program Information

Mount Pearl Minor Basketball (MPMBA) provides a skill delivery program in conjunction with the long term athletic development model, adopted by Canada Basketball, providing an optimal skills to games ratio.  In keeping with this philosophy, our program offers 1.5 hours (1 hour for grades K-1) once a week with practice and games in one session (Sunday afternoons).

The beginning of the season will be heavily weighted to skills development, athletic coordination, and fitness. As the season progresses, we will then provide more game opportunities.  Both the practice and game sessions will be delivered by the same coaching co-ordinators.  This will provide continuity of instruction and allow for the skill implementation in real game situations. There will be a portion of our instruction centred on team skills on both the offensive and defensive ends.

Overall, MPMBA is cognizant of developing the skills of each young athlete with a significant emphasis on doing so in a fun and rewarding environment.  We feel that this will enhance our program as well as the development of future basketball athletes.

Registration for the Drive to the Hoop program begins in September. Our registration fee are as follows:
